Small business in our economy

I would like to take this opportunity thank our very loyal customers for their continued support. I have been involved with a project in the U.S. for about a year now. It is called Project 3/50. It is something that is near and dear to me as it embraces small business. “Mom and Pop” stores are falling by the wayside more often than not nowadays because of big box stores and chains. This project asks people to think of three stores they would not want to lose in their community. Make a list, and when you can afford it, spend $50 at each of the 3 stores, hence Project 3/50. I have spoken to our local newspaper more than a few times about running an ads or consecutive ads with a similar theme. They listened! I am proud to be one of the businesses that is pushing for shopping local and supporting your smaller businesses. I encourage you to read the Gazette starting this week and for the next 7 weeks afterwards. I guess because my grandparents had a small store their entire lives, this is so very important to me. They would be what is called a convenience store now, there was no such thing then. They were open later than other stores and also open on Sundays. It was their livelihood and they did well. Until the highway bi-passed the town they lived in. They were close to retirement age but had they not been they would have had to find another source of income. These small stores are beneficial to our communties in so many ways, the least of which is good customer service. Once again, we want to thank each and everyone of our customers for your support.

Now for store news. We have had new stock arriving semi-weekly. How these companies keep coming up with such great products is amazing! We know that Spring Break is coming up so we are having a sale this weekend only. 20% off everything in store for Friday March 18th and Sat. March 19th, 2011.

and to add to the fun we have decided to have our first “Sleepover Crop” at the mall! It’s happening this Friday - Sunday the 14th - 16th. It starts at 5 p.m. on Friday and goes until 2/3ish P.M. on Sunday. The cost is $25.00 for the weekend or $10.00 drop in. Since we’re having the crop we decided to bump up the dates of our big sale! We have Christmas and Halloween paper, all buy one get one free. Other tables will have papers, buy 10 get 12 free! We will be having in -store specials on other items. These in-store specials will be different throughout our sale period. It runs from this Friday the 14th at 3:00 P.M. until Saturday the 22nd, 2010. Alot of great product being reduced to make room for new stock that we have already started ordering. We’ll send a reminder via facebook and a newsletter this evening. Vacation!

I’m off on vacation starting today. We have ordered alot of new product from our suppliers (CHA sure had alot of new stuff!) It will star arriving shortly after I return home. In the meanwhile we are offering our specialy coffees and teas at 20% off from Aug. 7 - Aug. 14, 2010.

Kali and Debbie will be at the store 9:30 - 5:00 P.M. Monday thru Saturday and are more than happy to help you. A reminder that we have a large workshop area that is free of charge. Punches, cuttlebug, big shot and cricut are just some of the things available for you.

We’ve Moved!!

Hello scrappers! Hope you are all having a fun and sunny summer. We sure are here at For Scrap Sake, having just celebrated our 3^rd anniversary. Wow does time fly! Thank you to all of our loyal customers for your patronage over the past three years and we hope to serve you for many more.

First, we have some very exciting news to share. On Wednesday, July 28^th For Scrap Sake will re-open its doors in our new location next to Overwaitea Foods in the Thunderbird Mall, bigger and better than ever. We are thrilled to welcome Kelley’s Chocolates to the store and will be carrying a fantastic selection of treats for all tastes. We also now offer specialty coffees, teas and cold beverages for you to enjoy as well.

We have received new stock during our moving “hiatus” including lines of paper, embellishments and more, with even more following soon. Also arriving in the near future will be an assortment of giftware for you to peruse.

Lastly, but certainly not least, we are delighted to welcome Debbie to our team at For Scrap Sake. So come by and say hello, grab a coffee and check it out. We’d love to see you all there!
